What is Abhyanga

Abhyanga is the Ayurvedic practice of self oil massage. This simple and profound technique is said to bring longevity, vitality, and well-being. When the mind and world around us are "windy" (ie. not stable and grounded), abhyanga is an opportunity to connect and come back to ourselves. It revitalizes the body to increase circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, soothe the nervous system, and boost immunity.

About the Workshop

After we meditate, we'll discuss the benefits of abhyanga and dive into a guided how-to. Please bring a towel to sit on, a bowl, and some oil of your choice. We recommend an organic sesame, coconut, or almond oil for this practice. Be sure to wear a bathing suit or clothing you don't mind getting oily. If possible, warm your oil before the workshop for that extra "ahhhhh" factor. Check out Banyan botanicals for a great selection of oils and Ayurvedic needs.
